Plan to pilot 2 FIGs in fall—one on issues related to work around “student preparation,” the other on content related to one of the new courses [need help with FIG leads, understanding goals and process]
12/8/10 Update (Debbie Olson): We did not pilot any FIGs during fall quarter as we found that rolling out the CATs and the Classroom Exchanges felt like enough to ask our faculty to do. We do have a nice number of people (15 or so) who have expressed interest in being a part of a group that will design the FIG protocol our department will use as we begin this part of the project. This group will meet periodically during winter quarter to design and possibly test the protocol. We have scheduled a departmental retreat for March 24, 2011 where a bulk of the time will be allotted for faculty development around the FIG project and protocol.
